How Will I Know if I'm a Lottery Winner?

By Jennifer McFadyen, About.com

Question: How Will I Know if I'm a Lottery Winner?
Answer:

Lottery winners are notified by mail. This letter provides further instructions on how to complete the immigration process. Winners DO NOT receive notification by e-mail. If you are chosen as a lottery winner, an official letter from the U.S. Department of State Kentucky Consular Center in Williamsburg, Kentucky will be sent to the mailing address you provided in your application.

It is important to note that even if you receive a letter confirming that you've been selected for a diversity visa, this does not guarantee that you will be called for an interview. While 50,000 diversity visas will be made available, almost double that number are randomly selected and will receive a notification letter.
