Obama's Pastor Luis Leon Angers Conservatives With Easter Sermon

By April 2, 2013

Follow me on:

Conservative bloggers, Fox News and, of course, Rush Limbaugh are outraged over the Easter sermon of Rev. Dr. Luis Leon, the Cuban-American pastor of St. John's Episcopal Church near the White House.

With President Obama in the congregation Sunday, Rev. Leon criticized the religious right for intolerance for blacks, women and immigrants. Now the religious right is criticizing him back for politicizing religion.

Limbaugh called the sermon "racist" and "divisive" against Republicans. Fox News said Rev. Leon has become "another Obama pastor problem."

Read what he said in the sermon and more about his life story -- how he came to the United States from Cuba during "Operation Peter Pan" 50 years ago

and what he said when he spoke at Obama's inauguration in January.

Rev. Leon’s Easter Sermon was the embodiment of Luke 18′s Parable of the Pharisee and the (Re)Publican. . .His self-righteous exalting over those nasty right wing religious types is something our Lord had a lot to say about! Wonder who went away from that Sunday worship Justified?

Shame on YOU AND Pastor Leon for condemning and labeling those you do not understand. PLEASE don’t for pretend for one minute that only liberals do God’s work.
No one knows what is in my heart. Does God also defend abortion? I think not. Is racism limited to conservatives? I think not.
It is hate baiters like you and Pastor Leon that harms our society and serves no useful purpose.
A kind heart who truly serves God and not a political system is what we need in this country. Until then, we are doomed.
