Homeland Security Wants to Hear From You
Last month, the Department of Homeland Security launched a social networking site on Ning.com called Our Border. The purpose was to provide a place for community leaders, activists and concerned citizens to discuss border issues. But discussions aren't limited to the border. The site includes four subgroups where members can voice their opinions on a variety of Homeland Security issues, including: Comprehensive Immigration Reform, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, and Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The entire network currently has close to 350 members with less than 50 of those belonging to the immigration reform subgroup. It's certainly not a beehive of activity but the site has only been running for a few weeks. Discussions are read and moderated by the Department so it could be a good way of making DHS aware of your opinions on immigration issues. You might like to start with the discussion topic, "Reforming Immigration: Join the Debate."
