Monday, June 8th was supposed to mark President Obama's first promised immigration reform discussion with Congressional leaders from both houses. However, new reports tell us that the meeting has been moved to June 17th because of a scheduling conflict. While the postponement is frustrating, it hasn't slowed down the current push for immigration reform.
CongressDaily reports that at a summit yesterday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, "Congress would tackle immigration reform after finishing with health care and energy." Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, echoed Pelosi's statement today, saying that he wants to pass immigration reform this year, "if at all possible."
Meanwhile, a national campaign was unveiled as part of a week-long cross-country initiative supporting comprehensive immigration reform. The Reform Immigration FOR America Campaign launched today to push immigration solutions in 2009. The coalition is made up of over 200 organizations such as the National Council of La Raza, the Center for American Progress, the Asian American Justice Center, the AFL-CIO, and the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, to name a few.
The Reform Immigration FOR America campaign has a great website that provides more information about the campaign, including ways you can get involved.

Pass a comprehensive reform already. And do it NOW!!! No more excuses. This is XXI century America, the beacon of the democracy in the world, and millions are living with no rights!!! They must be legalized. They work hard, speak English, and pay taxes. They will make America proud!
And it must happen this year!
i hope they are realizing that this immigration issue has it effect on the economy immigrants want to buy cars house, fly home take vacations and they cant. charge them 5000 each and use this money to secure the border it will help to boost the economy bcuz.illegals already have jobs do it quick the faster the better it is not a political issue dont use it like that it has it place in the economy.airports will have to employ summer vacations will be up you see the 12mill.is scared so they are holding on to their money.
for years the goverment has abused illegal immigrants for their own interest, money! the goverment is well aware that these people work hard and pay the taxes such as social security tax, medicare tax out of thier check for these services inwhich they will never benifit. It is time that goverment stop this abuse of the people and reformed immigration laws to make things just for all. I think president Obama will make great changes for this country, but it will not be easy and will not come quick, it is up to us a citizens to support immigration reform and the presidents efforts to return this country to its glorious status it ounce obtained, a country of freedom to be different, not a country of abusers, looking after our own interests but we need to be counsiderate to the interest of all, regradless of skin color, regrardless of language for god created us all equal.
We need Immigration Reform ASAP. As the recent Pew poll shows 63% of Americans want reform on this issue and that includes bringing all of the undocumented out of the shadows and giving them a path to citizenship. We need to abolish the abusive detention system that the are jailing immigrants in for profits of government contracts at the American citizens taxpayers expense. It is in-humane to split up familys in our country. We are a proud nation that was built of Immigrants. I am a third generation Italian daughter of a World War ll veteran. My 82 year old dad believes in immigration reform. He looks as our immigrants the same way as our grandfathers and grandmothers and great grandparents. We must never destroy the values of togetherness and family in our country.
I AM AN AMERICAN WOMEN MARRIED TO A ILLEGAL MEXICAN FOR 6 YEARS NOW. I HAVE 2 GIRLS WITH HIM.I WISH THEY WOULD GIVE THEM THEIR PAPERS. IF THEY WERE GIVEN PAPERS THEY CAN PAY A FINE IN PAYMENTS.10 TO 12 MILLION ILLEGALS. If we resolve the illegal aliens issue we will have to lay off about 700,000 jobs.
Sort of like the energy issue. If we stop using gas overnight and have everyone use some other green energy right away , hundreds of thousands of jobs losses will take place and many companies thrive on that will have to close the doors.
So, illegal immigration is NOT an issue for the country but it is only an issue for the individuals who are illegal.
For the country it is a big business generating great wealth.
You know that our country makes a lot of money by selling weapons, missiles, nuclear technology which kills people in masses. We build the best and most advanced weapons and sell them worldwide, in fact we sell it to your country Mexico. Why do you think that the same people care?
One of you have said “use our money and secure the border “. So, you yourself may be an illegal saying that and have the good life here but if someone else who is a poor fellow want to come here you want to use your money to prevent him/her coming here right
