Immigration Reform Legislation on the Horizon
America's voice issued a press release today stating President Obama has renewed his campaign pledge to move forward on comprehensive immigration reform legislation.
On Tuesday, President Obama told Eddie "Piolín" Sotelo, “We’re going to make sure that we begin the process of dealing with the immigration system that’s broken. We’re going to start by really trying to work on how to improve the current system so that people who want to be naturalized, who want to become citizens, like you did, that they are able to do it; that it’s cheaper, that it’s faster, that they have an easier time in terms of sponsoring family members. And then we’ve got to have comprehensive immigration reform. Now, you know, we need to get started working on it now. It’s going to take some time to move that forward, but I’m very committed to making it happen. And we’re going to be convening leadership on this issue so that we can start getting that legislation drawn up over the next several months.”
In addition to the President, prominent voices from the Obama Administration and other key allies have offered support for tackling immigration reform this year. In a recent interview with Hispanic journalists, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel noted the debate over the immigration-related components of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and stated that “the arrow is pointing in a different direction in relation to immigration politics in this country.” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) highlighted his intention to pursue comprehensive immigration reform in 2009, stating “I hope that we can get it done in September, and I feel confident that we can get this done.” And labor leader John Wilhelm, President Hospitality Industry, UNITE HERE! said the “American people have embraced the proposition that has always been true about our country: that we will succeed as a nation if we put our divisions aside and work together. As we work to rebuild this country, it is important that all workers and all employers are on an even playing field.”
For those who feel that immigration reform is nothing without border control, President Obama's statement comes during the same week as Napolitano's deadline for an agency assessment of current immigration and border security plans and policies. Napolitano recently reiterated her immigration policy during an interview with NPR, which includes securing the border and increasing interior enforcement.

Obama better realize that Americans don’t want AMNESTY, and ANYTHING that allows these ILLEGAL ALIENS to remain in this Country is AMNESTY!
Now I can’t say the ILLEGAL ALIENS are completely to blame for the shape of our economy, but they are a BIG part of the problem. The ILLEGAL ALIENS send BILLIONS upon BILLIONS out of this Country every year, money we will NEVER see again. Does this help our economy?
How about the BILLIONS the American taxpayers fork out for the ANCHOR BABIES, the schooling of them, the medical care and the list goes on, and on, and on.
How about the MILLIONS upon MILLIONS paid to jail ILLEGAL ALIENS for the crimes, then the cost to deport them. Does this help our economy?
Then you have these activist groups, the Catholic Church and the ACLU that want AMNESTY for these ILLEGAL ALIENS. It would be absolute suicide for this Country if AMNESTY were granted to the 20 million or so ILLEGAL ALIENS. We have more and more people out of work everyday and they want to add another 20 million to this Country? I say, “NO”!
If AMNESTY were ever granted to these 20 million ILLEGAL ALIENS, you can bet big money that 3 years from now, there would be ANOTHER 3-5 million ILLEGAL ALIENS demonstrating on our soil for AMNESTY.
An end MUST come to this illegal immigration. The perfect tool we have so far is E-Verify. It MUST be used by ALL businesses and Government Social Services. EVERY employee must be checked! If they are illegal, they are to be dismissed! Obama wants to end E-Verify. The very best tool we have, and he wants to end it?
I want to wish Obama the best, but so far he has made a few bad choices what with this TRILLION DOLLAR SPENDING BILL for one.
Then he decides to bail out irresponsible home buyers with our tax money! He certainly is generous with our money but not with his own money. His brother in Africa lives on one dollar a month and he sends him nothing!
Don’t you find that ironic? Charity starts at home…not in the White House with OUR MONEY!
Now back to the ILLEGAL ALIENS. They are not part of the solution, they are part of the problem. They MUST go back to their home Country.
I am so tired of people propagating the lie that undocumented workers are draining the U.S. economy. It is simply not true. No rational measure of the impact of undocumented residents demonstrates as much. Indeed, hard working Mexican workers bolster the American economy if any thing. See the following article which identifies the actual benefits that undocumented workers have provided for decades to the Social Security and Medicare systems.
The above poster seems to simply spew the same old tired excuses for what is nothing more than abject racism. I am anglo. I have no Hispanic relatives. Unless you can tell me why poor children of any race should be less educated than the children of these immigrants (many of whom are American citizens, then do it. Otherwise, please focus on the poverty issue and the means whereby we solve that problem.
I hope and pray, as a Republican, that President Obama and the Congress will enact meaningful immigration reform and if it means some measure of amnesty, so be it. Don’t cripple the economy more by wholesale deportation of those who contribute mightily to our ecomomy.

Secure the border and start the deportation of these Criminals !!!
I AM NOT HISPANIC,BUT HAVE A FRIEND WHO CAME HERE AT AGE 8 WENT TO SCHOOL.COLLEGE,WORKED EVERYDAY,THEN OPENED HIS OWN BUSINESS,BOTH HIS PARENTS BECAME CITIZENS,EMPLOYED SEVERAL AMERICAN WORKERS WITH FAMILIES,HAS HIS OWN CHILDREN HERE,HONEST PAYS TAXES JUST LIKE YOU AND I NOT INTO DRUGS,OR NOT A CRIMMINAL,TRYING TO BECOME LEGAL AND BEING RIPPED OFF BY LAWYERS,IN OCT PICKED UP BY ICE AND INCARCERATED FOR 4 MONTH THEN DEPORTED BACK TO ELSALVADOR TO COUNTRY HE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT AND HAS TO WORRY CONSTENTLY ABOUT BEING ROBBED,BEATING,OR KILLED AND ALSO TO LIVE WITH NOTHING AND LOSE EVERYTHING HE HAS WORKED FOR BUSINESS,HOME,CARS.CHILDREN,THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND ALSO TO BE TREATED BADLY WHEN INCARCERATED BECAUSE CONSIDERED A IMMIGRANT THERE IS REALLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM.COMING HERE AS A CHILD WHERE IS WHAT ONCE WAS CALLED THE AMERICAN DREAM.
20 million illegal immigrant
pay a fine of $3,000 per head and
make them legal. AND save our
Housing Market.
20,000,000 x $3,000 = $60,000,000,000
That’s 60 BILLION into US Economy
No matter how you slice the BS, if illegals stay, then its amensty and its wrong.
Americans can work at jobs held by illegals.
As long as cheap employers like UNITE HERE stop employing illegals who depress wages.
AMNESTY IS WRONG?
WAS THE COLONIZATION OF THE AMERICAS RIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE? THE KILLINGS OF THE NATIVE AMERICANS AND THE TAKE OVER OF CALIFORNIA AND TEXAS FROM MEXICO??
Amnesty is a bad idea. It is funny that the Democratic party who is suppose to be for the American workers (same with the corrupt unions in America) will allow millions of illegals to stay here, take YOUR job, and then have the gall to tell you it was a job you wouldn’t want anyways. Yet the poor and uneducated (who are the most hurt by low skilled illegal aliens taking their jobs) and some of the rich who have to pay for health, police, and education costs of illegal aliens keep voting for the Democrats.
I am 100% opposed to any form of amnesty. In 1986, we had amnesty. It was sold to the people of America that it was going to be a one time amnesty and then crackdown after that. All we got was amnesty of 3 million people and 12 million new illegals!
Immigrants legal or illegal are running this country. But what citizens are doing – designing ponzy schemes to hide their money in UBS or getting pubilicity of 8 kids….Rather than hating move ur ass.
It was so sick when a Republican Rep. of Iowa told Microsoft to fire immigrants (H1 holders) before Americans. Is not this socialism- to fire a hardworking and efficient immigrant before a looser citizen? And who goes to Iowa – why this stupid fellow is jumping in the matters of Washington State. All the politicians of cosmopolitan states know the value of immigrants.
If this will continue, US glory is about to end. Very easily open countries for skilled labor such as Canada and European countries will be the new economic center. Microsoft has shifted its jobs to Canada and IBM told immigrants that they will shift the projects to other countries. People who are shifting these jobs are also citizens but they have brain. So more loss for the dumb loosers.
Taking your job? If you work at a slaughterhouse , if you work on the open field harvesting tomatoes or another kind of produce, Clean crap out of barns, and so on, then you have a point…
You certainly have the right to express your opinion but first educate yourself before venting out in a manner that seems full of hatred. Don’t blame illegals, they are victims too, they pay taxes using ITIM numbers, and they don’t get any money back at the end of the year. They do the hard job, the one you won’t do! They live law abiding to avoid deportation. Send them all back! kill your own animals, harvest your own produce and see big companies stumbling down plus what’s left of our once mighty economy.
Illegals are not draining the economy, there are many Americans getting “disability” checks for life even when they heal to the extend that they can go hiking(to put an example), many others living off of welfare when they can perfectly work. Add this up and you’ll see where tax money drainage is. You talk about anchor babies but many babies from Americans are being abandoned by irresponsible and possibly alcoholic/drug addict parents for our goverment to foster, etc, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t judge, I just want to make a point here, our tax dollars go in staggering amounts to our own fellow Americans.
A strong national economy needs: 1. Hard workers 2. Big spenders 3. Smart elite. Throughout history America had all three, mostly in this form: 1. Hard workers: immigrants 2. Big spenders: Americans 3. Smart elite: immigrants. It sounds offending to Americans, but it’s not what I mean. Americans do work hard, but only somebody coming from a poor environment, like immigrants are, can have such motivation and be so determined to make it, to live the American dream. Also there has always been great American-born elite, but the elite from all the other countries on Earth was attracted here. Immigration is part of the very definition of America, and is in many cases a difference between America and other powerful nations. Incidentally America is the world’s number one power. Although even without new immigrants, the American nation would still be wonderful, my belief is that immigration has been one of the key things, that made a difference to the rise of this great country.
bob of delaware you must remember thats the first state who lived in delaware before your ancestors is not the indians. your femily cross the river in the night that way the indians will not see your ass. kill women and children take there land and settle there you were born ther you are also a anchor baby aint stop hating .
the country is broken down i agree with juzus let the people pay some money and use it to help build back the economy.we need it do the math 27 million multiply by $5000 do you see what this can do for our country.ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY.wise up the republicans as rob all our money and take it to dubei any way we can make back our money lets go for it.
to Bob, and other haters!!!! I’m 25… Always paid my taxes and never claimed them back… Remember days when had no job, no food on the table… I cleaned restrooms for you, and build your houses… I cooked for you… Damn, I did it all, hard work, the job you will never take!!! 6 years later… Who am I?? I’m an illegal immigrant !!! At least I’m no drug addict, no alcoholic, nothing like you! You can do whatever you wanna do with me, put me here, there… But believe me, it’s no worse what communist already did to me!!! I know what Hell is, and no Racist Republican Grandma or Grandpa will scare me in a way, so I would pack my stuff and leave! What do you mean leave, what about my money then??? how much money you took from my paycheck each week??? Or it’s a gift to unemployed, uneducated trash( i’m sorry for that) but that’s what it is!!! I’m sorry for these words, if they heart anyone…
P.S. read with Russian accent, should sound like me:)
My my, a lot of anger in here…
All bickering, offering no Solution.
Sending home the 20M (as Mr. Delaware Bob says)will use up more government funds that we need here, no not a good idea.
And the billions and billions of dollars that vanished into thin air? try auditing the Iraq war…yup there they are!
Americans taking jobs away from them… will you wake up at 3am and work until 10 to 11 pm at a fancy restaurant cleaning up for $8 /hour? uhuh i thought so.
Atta boy Jesus, you have the right idea!
It is a time for CHANGE in the broken immigration system, Bring all out of shadow, bring them into tax system, they are also part of our system, they have build our country, to the hatters, look behind you! Who are you? look at your parents, your forth father, where are they come from? they were part of buliding this country too, I urge President Obama to pass this pending immigration legislation, YES YOU CAN!
Maybe Bob needs to remember who this country was discoved by!!!!!!! I case he has forgoten about 1492!!!!!! Maybe we need to send him back!!!!!!
Delaware Bob!!
his brother does not live on one dollor a month. Get your facts right.he definatly lives on more than 5 dollors per day because even the rent in that particular slum where he stays is 150 USD. and the university college he attends costs more than 1000 USD per semester.
ALL THEY TALK ABOUT IS HOW IMMIGRANTS DO BAD IN THIS COUNTRY, THEY DON’T KNOW HOW HARD THIS IMMIGRANTS WORK HARD FOR OUR FOOD, WHY BE GREEDY THIS IS A COUNTRY OF IMMIGRANTS NOBODY IS A NATIVE OF AMERICA EXCEPT THE NATIVE INDIANS AND MEXICANS WHO ONES LIVE ON THIS GOD GIVEN SOIL. I SAY GIVE HUMAN BEINGS A CHANCE TO LIVE FREELY WITHOUT FEARS OF HAVING ALL THEY HAVE INVESTED WILL JUST GO TO DUST. YOU MUST KNOW THIS HUMAN BEINGS ARE LIKE YOU & ME THEY WANT TO LIVE A HAPPY LIFE. I SAY FREEDOM FOR ALL IMMIGRANTS AND PEACE FOR THIS COUNTRY AND HOPE THAT THE ECONOMY WILL GET BACK TO HOW IT WAS OR BETTER..
Oh boy, let the fun begin !! I can’t wait for Obama to start this again. Doesn’t he remember the public outcry in 2007 regarding the shamnesty bill? It was voted down in part because of Americans flooding the white house with calls that eventually knocked out the phone system. With his decisions for far that haven’t made Americans feel any better about the economy and the stock market crashing every time he proposed a plan does not mode well for him. Many Americans are out of work and have no desire to have illegals doing those jobs. We are fed up with having to pay for these illegal moochers. Get ready, the sparks are gonna fly !! Deport them all !!
First of all I would like to commend you for allowing us the reader to have an insight as to why you are so passionate about immigration reform. Second, it is with great pleasure that I thank you for taking the time to educate the public about legislation concerning immigration. There are millions of people out there who do not know enough about their rights and they need someone like you to guide them to the information so that they can be properly informed. More often than not people get so intimidated when applying for citizenship that they either make mistakes in the application process and or end up wasting large amounts of time filling out applications that aren’t needed. This I tell you from my own experience.
Your post, “Immigration Reform, Legislation on the Horizon”, deals with how the Obama administration is going to overhaul existing immigration laws and make it more accessible to people. This reading states that our new president is dedicated to making opposing sides of the immigration debate work together, and hopefully come to an agreement that it both good for those applying and to the current citizens of the United States. The new administration states that they will make it easier to apply by reducing the cost of the applications, making the process work smoother and faster, and by allowing for more sponsorship of family members. That being said there are some points that I still am unsure of.
Your blog is great for current information regarding immigration legislation and it is also vital in supplying links for people to follow to get information from the direct sources. My question is regarding the governor of Arizona (Napolitano) and her interview with NPR. She is now the new secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, she is left with a department that was ridiculed by a nonpartisan Migration Policy Institute. The New York Times called the report a “portrait of dysfunction”. What affect if any does her assessment of our immigration policy have on those applying for citizenship now or those in the future?
O should plan to give amnesty to people who are here ‘illegally’ once they can [1] Pay a fine, [2] prove that they have been paying taxes[3]Show that they have been, and continue to be, productively employed/engaged, [3]can pay for their medical and other expenses that are normally born by the Gov’t[except for education up to 18yrs]and [4] have no serious criminal record.
Sounds simple? Because it probably is.
A lot of these people came here legally, vis a vis, visas, but have overstayed, but are gainfully employed and making contributions to the economy; perhaps opening the door to these at first, could allow many more to WANT to pay taxes and try for citizenship.
At least folks are talking more about the Problem but we need alot more Action LegalAmericanFolks.com Something has to be Done Dustins Dad
So illegal aliens really ruining this economy!!! Right. Just take a look at this ads and tell me what “legal” immigrant or US citizen would do this job?
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/dmg/1042213780.html
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/dmg/1047815652.html
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/dmg/1042184101.html
If any of you are willing to do those jobs then you’re right, illegals are stealing jobs from you.
One thing that annoys people who remember it is what Congress said 22 years ago when they passed an amnesty (then called “legalization” in the law): that the “amnesty” would be a one-time event and not to look for it to happen again. I and others are bothered that we are creating a precedent here. Are we going to have an “amnesty” every 20 years or so? Another thing that bothers me is this simplistic talk of “reform” and a “path to citizenship.” Anytime a law is changed it’s authors could call it a reform. Change is not always reform; reform is in the eye of the beholder. Call it what it is: a revision of the Immigration and Nationality Act. What is a “path to citizenship?” Very simple: lawful permanent residence, also known as a “green card,” for the required number of years (generally five). What is amnesty? giving aliens with no status some form of status that will lead to a green card. If we could talk in facts instead of emotional phrases we would be better able to discuss changes rationally.
hey, all have something to say, it depends how you feel, if youre a citizen youre lucky but think if you were not in that shoe and youre also an immigrant how would you feel, fill the world with fun and happiness not hatred and this world will be fine.
It’s silly that people here think the illegal immigrants are the reason for this recession. I just came back from craigslist. I just wanted to check “domestic jobs”. There was one listing looking for a nanny for 10 month-old twins, doing the changing, laundry, feeding, playing, cooking… They were asking the person to have own transportation, be legal to work in USA. The job would be from 7:30 a.m to 6:30 p.m, so about 11hours a day, Monday through Friday (55 hours/week). They are offering $500/week, no overtime. I just don’t see any legal immigrant or US citizen accept that job. If you feel like you can do that, then you are right, illegals are stealing your job. I mean how can anyone accept an 11-hour/day job paying 500/week? It pays you less than $9/hour and takes your up your whole day.
Then there was this other ad. “Wanted: Live-in Caregiver for Elderly Gentleman”. This is the ad and read for yourself. Now if you’re telling me any legal immigrant or US citizen will volunteer to do this job then you’re right, they are stealing your jobs.
“Hello,

Thank you.”
It’s a long job description but well, some people are ready to pay you $200/week for all of that: teaching French to her kids (real rate of French tutoring only is $35/hour), teaching her kids the ABC, reading, etc… for less than $7/hour as a night job. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? IF YOU ARE WILLING TO DO TAKE THAT JOB AS A LEGAL IMMIGRANT OR US CITIZEN THEN YOU’RE RIGHT, THEY ARE STEALING YOUR JOBS.
It’s not like illegal immigrants are your CEOs, teachers, doctors, accountants, etc… They are your housekeepers, dishwashers, lawn mowers, etc. So think about it. Maybe there are other reasons why the economy is this bad.
One of the few positives of the economic “stimulus” plan was the provision limiting the ability TARP recipients to hire foreign workers over American workers. Drafted by Senators Bernie Sanders and Charles Grassley, the provisions require only that a good faith effort be made to hire American workers over foreign workers, but the increased government scrutiny over the recipients of federal bailout money should give pause to any employer seeking to violate the spirit of this rule. Substantial research has shown that, despite an abundance of well educated domestic talent, employers often seek to hire foreign workers in an attempt to lower labor costs.

I dated an illegal alien that worked for an elderly man. The illegal alien was sweet, hard working and kind and the elderly man loved him more than anyone. The elderly mans family seemed to be waiting for this man to pass away to inheriate him money. I remember talking to one of the family members telling him that I come from a good background and the illegal alien I was dateing my family loved and my family is strick. Dad fought in World War 2 and is a real great judgement of character. Anyway, the family member made a comment about how I couldnt really be from a great background because I was dateing the illegal alien. He kept on bragging about his wife and how she was working on wall street. I really bit my tongue because I kept on thinking that poor elderly man had rotten children and when you think about it they employed the illegal alien and at the same time they were putting him down. Truthfully, I feel its difficult to put labels on any group or anyone. Lets face it…there are good people and bad people, legal and illegal from all races and backgrounds. I told my parents the story. They really feel sorry for the elderly man. He is in the hospital now and Im sure about one thing. He was loved by an illegal alien.
We can’t blame alien for our economy, we didn’t had any alien in 1930’s and back then our economy was worst then this! Don?t just think that alien just send money home they also spend money here! If you look at strategic you will find that more % American is costing more to our economy then aliens.
America is Free county, go back to past there was no American it was only Columbus.
We can come with something so most of us can understand and realize that path to legalization is the only way for us to check on every alien in this county and keep track on them and is the only way we can start taxing those unclaimed income.
I think we should support our President on immigration issue.
G.B.A.
It’s not soon enough. The immigration system is broken and unless there a reform, businesses and families will be hurt. I’m surprised at how many bigoted and racist people are still living in this country. Don’t they understand that unless we resolve the issue of 11 million illegal aliens, our country will never go forward. And we need these aliens to be legalized to help our economy. The bill passed by the senate, would have brought in some 70 billion dollars in fees and fines. We need this money. Additionally it required the paying of taxes, another income stream. And as the applicants would not get their Green Card until all those already waiting on line receives theirs – which is estimated between 10 -13 years, taxes will have to be paid before they become totally legal. Understand that this program is not an amnesty. Just think about all the hoops these people will have to jump before they are truly legal residents. I commend Obama, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy and even John McCain for their efforts on immigration reform. Let’s hope we are on track before the end of this year.
There are people living in the country for more than 25 yrs hoping and praying to become legal. Only inconsiderate people who arent in touch with their humanity would want such people deported to countries they no longer feel a part of. Illegal Immigrants do all sorts of jobs to make ends meet, and never get to collect unemployment when there are no jobs. How many citizens can handle not having unemployment check to fall back on once for decades? Try to put yourself in others shoes and learn to have empathy instead of spewing hate. Immigration reform to give people a chance to become legal is long over due.
For all the people who support amnesty, legalization, a path to citizenship, or whatever you want to call it for 12 to 20 million (yes, there are some estimates that high) aliens, how do you propose to eliminate the need for another amnesty in another 20 to 25 years? No one says that all these aliens need to be deported, but we must proceed carefully as we debate the best way of moving forward. There is no way that all the applicants already “in line” can be handled before the ones who are here. Every country is limited to 20,000 non-immediate relative immigrant visas per year. Some countries have backlogs of up to 20 years or more! The U.S. already admits more than a million new permanent residents a year. It’s a complex problem!
I DONT THINK THESE HUMAN BEING THAT YOU CALL ILLEGALS WANTS TO MESS UP WITH HOW THE IMMIGRATION SYSTEM RUNS, I THINK THEY ARE WILLING TO WAIT IN LINE, I HAVE SOME FRIENDS THAT ARE IN THIS SITUATION AND FROM THEIR WORDS ALL THEY WANT IS TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE RECOGNIZE AS HUMAN AS PART OF THE SOCIETY. TO BE LEGALIZE AND WORK HONEST JOBS, PAY TAXES AND CONTRIBUTE IN THE ECONOMY. THINK COMMON SENSE.
something will have to be done its either send away or keep but believe it or not its cheaper and easier to fix this system once and for all and immediately illegal immigration is now drawing the country down money is not been kept in the country because u are not sure hats going to happen free it up and see if airport wont have to employ more why 12,000,000 more will be able to fly and believe it or not in a 2 year span drivers licns hotels more vacation will be booked i know a friend want to go to disney but say no becausse they are scared to fly its costing tax payers and thats why i pushing for it it has a lot of advantage more than disadvantage
I agree with a lot of you. It is soooooooo not illegal immigrants stealing jobs or health care or draining our country. Please they pay tax’s with the ITIN and never see a dime because they want to be documented as person who does care for the law. They pump lots of money through the economy. OK so they came in illegal, If your wife and children were on their second week of homelessness and hungry you would do any thing to, To save them.Or in any other circumstances that meant not being able to survive. And I could relate i have a family i care for to, i would do anything for them not to suffer. So if anything i support them. Its a quality of life. And my life or any other US Citizens life is not more valuable then theirs just cause you don’t agree with their illegality. I would welcome them into my country into my home. If you asked them to pay to be legal they would in a heartbeat majority came to do the right thing by their family’s and in order to continue to they abide the laws as to not get deported or in any trouble. So not only would they pay i bet a majority would get a criminal check, a lie detector test, most I’ve met speak English people just remember the ones who don’t. I like to say if those who call Mexicans wet backs (because of the saying that they have to cross the Rio grand to get into the USA), then what do you all your ancestors who came from all they way across the ocean? To steal their land and kill their Indian brothers and sisters. What are they???? FISH?! LOL I trust these people more then Americans to be patriotic to this country. You know how many illegal immigrant went to war for this country. Fighting for you people.
And if you ever get to thinkin you can keep them out then you are the ignorant ones. They want to be Americans more the a lot of you they’ve got a lot of drive. And they aint goin no where.
it is interesting they are callingillegal immigrants criminals my brother came in this country 5 years ago with a visa and his visa expired he was pick up from ice since january and lock up. he was working, going to school never got in trouble even his boss from mcdonald say he was a good worker and it is a shame that when i calld the immigration officer and asked how come my brother is still in there he told me if is was doing drugs or a murderer he would of released him in the street already, so my point is not every illegal is a criminal and he pays his taxes every year like everybody else. illegals immigrants are not the problem.stop blaming illegal immigrants for the economy blame the big time ceo. second most of the americans are not going to do the jobs the the illegal immigrants are doing even if they paid them more, because they always feel like those jobs are not for them i hope they pass the law.
What part of ILLEGAL are we not understanding. If 20 million people come across a boarder I would call it an illegal invasion. Shoot them as they come across . Also this lame excuse about if we don’t let them in who will do the work in the fields and hotels. Here is an idea we have low level criminals already incarcerated and we have millions on welfare . You want welfare and farmers want cheap help who better to do the work than these people already getting a hand out from us the working people of America. MAybe a couple days in the field would make them reealize there is more to life than a free ride. They say they don’t want to work in the field boo hoo then you don’t want the welfare check either. Same for the low level inmates you don’t want to work in the fields boo hoo you dont get to eat today. Lets start a new America nobody gets a free ride .
Why has no one mentioned that the majority of the pro-immigration e-mails seem to be coming from people with limited English skills? We all stand up for the things that will personally impact our own lives or our loved ones lives. I would do the same, but neither side has separated legal immigration from illegal immigration. Several of the writers have commented on immigration as one of America’s gifts; I agree with that statement, but we have always controlled who came across our borders, whether it be an illiterate refugee to do hard labor or a scientist escaping a communist regime with real skills and knowledge to offer. I blame our government for making laws, this just being one example, that they fail to enforce. Now we have millions of illegal immigrants who have stayed here for decades because no one ever made them leave. It has become a cruel trick to deport hardworking people in these circumstances, but not all immigrants are hardworking. We need to look at each as individuals, but the government doesn’t work that way. We have another tough situation that our selfish legislators have created again by caring only for their next re-election.
YOU CANNOT GET WELFARE IF YOU DONT HAVE A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER WITCH MEANS ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS CANOT GET MONEY FROM THE GOVERMENT LOL LOOK IT UP.
