Ombudsman: What the Heck is an "Ombudsman" and Why is it a Must Have?

The USCIS Ombudsman is a critically important immigration problem solving tool that everyone should know about but few people do.

This department of the USCIS Ombudsman recommends solutions for problems that visa applicants are having.

The USCIS Ombudsman:

  • Helps individuals and employers alike resolve problems with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS);
  • Pinpoints areas that seem to present repeated problems for those dealing with the USCIS; and
  • Establishes administrative strategies for change and recommends that the USCIS implement them.
  • The USCIS Ombudsman's mission is to make open communication with visa applicants, sponsors and employers possible and easy. They encourage comments and welcome requests for assistance.
